Ian Graham was born in 1971 in the north of England and now lives in a small village on the edge of the West Pennine moors. Monument is his first novel.
Anhaga Ballas is a fat drunk. At the beginning of this novel, Ballas chooses to steal a purse from a
mason worker who is at a
tavern enjoying ale with a couple of his friends. After this deed is done, Ballas stagers outside the tavern, in close persuite are the mason workers. During the beating that Ballas
receives he yet again steals another purse. After the beating that Ballas receives, he decided to go to another tavern to waste the money that he just stole. Once he is done drinking and wooing he
goes outside to see in front of him yet again the mason workers. After getting beat up once again his body is picked up by a
priest, Ballas is in no condition at all to walk and he does not know how to react to such kindness. Ballas stays with the priest for a couple of says until he goes back into his bad habits. While walking in the city looking for a piece of meat to buy at the market, he overhears librarians talking about a special
artifact that was just discovered and was being examined by archeologists. This artifact is beautiful with four diamonds and one big blue rube in the middle. Ballas of coarse decides to steal it thinking that it will bring him riches beyond any mans dream, instead it corrupts his life. He must now flee from the people of the
church for he had done something that the church wants him dead for. Ballas must now travel all through Druine to try to find the Land Beyond The Mountains. A land that might not even exist.
